May have originally started as a disparaging remark mountain bikers used to refer to commuters as but it has now been accepted. (Urban Dictionary)


Project: Urban art installation bringing together themes of video and audio for a unique cycling experience. Cycle your way through a virtual landscape created by footage taken by everyday riders. Experience this perspective of slogging through the streets to find peace within the urban surroundings.

Breathe Denver and KMH Digital Creations have partnered with Denver Art Museum’s Untitled Exhibition Series 2010 to reveal this project.

Any spectator may jump on the bike displayed and start pedaling. This triggers the projection of the video we pieced together from head cam footage of riders around the world. As you ride the bike you will see video of different cities and get the feeling you are experiencing the ride yourself. The video is combined with motion graphics to paint a unique virtual landscape. Accompanied by a live DJ for audio effects to create a complete experience.

The rider has now transcended what it really is to be a Gutter Bunny. We hope to inspire and encourage a dialogue utilizing cycling as an alternative mode of transportation.

More Info The exhibit features the Gutter Bunny Project’s virtual cycling experience by Krista Homiak and Sarah TV Russell, hand-crafted track bikes by local frame builder Eric Dow of Speed Cat Cycles as well as local powder coat specialist, Josh Culbertson of Tree House Powder Coating.

At 6 p.m. enjoy a free artfully-inspired yoga class with Breathe Owner Sarah TV Russell set to live beats by Lukos. The exhibition event  starts at 7:30 p.m. and includes music by DJ Lukos, appetizers provided by SAME Café, and beer provided by Great Divide Brewing Company. Great prizes will be raffled off throughout the night from a variety of local businesses.

This is a free event with a suggested $5 donation or $1 donation per beer.
